Dutch Apple Tart

Serves: 7

Ingredients:
100g butter
1/4 cup sugar
1 egg
1 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
3 large apples

TOPPING
30g butter
1/2 cup honey
1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Method:
Melt the butter. Remove from the heat and stir in the sugar. Add the egg and beat with a wooden spoon until combined. Sift the flour, baking powder and cinnamon into the butter mixture and mix until combined. Press the dough into a floured 25 centimetre loose-bottom fluted flan tin.
Peel, quarter and core the apples. Cut each quarter into thin slices. Arrange over the dough, overlapping each slice. Bake at 180 degrees C for 25 minutes.
Pour over the topping, spreading to cover the apples. Bake for a further 15 minutes. Serve hot or cold.

TOPPING
Soften the butter and cream with the honey, nutmeg and cinnamon until smooth and creamy.
