Why this recipe is special:
This was my great grand mothers recipe and has been made for many many years my grandmother made then my mother now me and hpefully my daughter will take over once i am unable to make
Serves: 10
Ingredients:
6oz butter 6oz brown sugar 5 eggs 2oz breadcrumbs1/2lb raisins 1/2lb sultanas 1/2lb currants 1/4 lb peel 1/4lb cherries 1/4lb ginger 1/4 lb almonds 1tsp grated nutmeg 1/2 cup brandy 1tsp baking soda dissolved in 1tlbs milk 1/4 tsp salt 1/2lb flour.
Method:
cream butter and sugar add eggs 1 at a time beat each one well add the flour and fruit with the milk and soda lastly add the brandy.place a damp flour bag(cloth one) in a bowl pour the mixture in tie the bag tightly place in pot of boiling water and boil for 4hrs .You can use a teatowel.keep pot full with water.make at labour weekend and hang in cloth until xmas.
