Italian Trifle (Tiramisu Trifle) by Hansells Recipes

Italian Trifle (Tiramisu Trifle)

Serves: 1

Ingredients:
The lady fingers used for this trifle are like sponge fingers and are called biscotti by one brand available in our supermarkets. Don’t confuse them with the crisp biscotti served with coffee.

1 packet Hansells Crème Brulee Mix
2 cups cream
1 cup full cream milk
500ml Hansells Greek Style Yoghurt
1/4 cup very strong coffee
2 egg whites
3/4 cup sweet sherry, brandy or marsala
About 14 lady fingers
Dark chocolate shavings

Method:
Make the Brulee Mix to packet directions using 1 cup of the cream measure and the milk. Cover the surface of the brulee with plastic wrap to prevent a skin forming. Set aside to cool. Mix the yoghurt and coffee together.
Beat the egg whites until stiff peaks form and fold into the cooled custard. Pour the sherry, brandy or marsala into a shallow bowl. Lay the lady fingers in the bowl a few at a time and use to line the base of a glass serving dish. Cover with half the yoghurt mixture then half the brulee mixture. Repeat the layers. Whip the remaining 1 cup of cream until soft peaks form. Spread over the trifle. Sprinkle with chocolate shavings. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
